As a qualified Pilates Foundation teacher for two and a half years I have taught private and group classes around London and Brighton.
I use Pilates as a platform and stable foundation to build exercises around the individual needs.
Each body and person is unique and Pilates allows you to find their own ideal posture, body shape, and fitness.
The great thing about Pilates is it caters for everyone, for many different physical needs and for people of all ages. It can be practiced to aid rehabilitation from injury, and to help with avoiding injury in the future, for pre- and post-natal women, and it can also be used by the more active to improve all round sports performance.
Pilates is all about balancing the body. It uses exercises that work on strength and stability, as well as freedom of movement and flexibility, so the body works in the best possible way. Pilates is a unique, low-impact, stretching and conditioning, complete body workout – that also helps you to develop an awareness of how your body works, helping your mind and body to work in harmony.
When you’re stressed or injured, the movement patterns and balance of your body change – without you even noticing, and your body tries to compensate. For example, when you have a bad back it may reduce the connection to your deep stabilising muscles – leading to more instability and further pain. So not only are your normal movements inhibited because of a bad back, but your back may become more vulnerable due to the lack of support from muscles around the pelvis and the spine.
A Pilates teacher will look at each body and a person’s needs individually, and work with you on a set of exercises appropriate for those needs – either in private or group classes. Whether you’re a dancer or a boxer, teenager or senior citizen, recovering from injury or trying to kick start a fitness regime: Pilates offers something for everyone.

I teach Pilates in both group classes and one-to-one tuition in London, Brighton, Eastbourne and Lewes.
One-to-one tuition allows a Pilates teacher to physically guide and provide in-depth feedback allowing for a deeper understanding of the principles of Pilates.
Group classes are a good way of discovering more about your body in a friendly environment.
